Byron Bay to Coonabarabran – experience country flight
Coonabarabran is a friendly country town of around 3,000 people with 11,000 living in the region. As the closest gateway to the majestic Warrumbungle Ranges, it's one of the best places in NSW to experience nature. Enjoy from air the spectacular scenery and ancient volcanic remnants of Warrumbungle National Park and surrounds, do bush walking and encounter wildlife on the ground and by night, marvel at our stunning skies and find out why Coonabarabran is known as the 'Astronomy Capital of Australia'.

During the week stay at Coonabarabran hospitality of members of the local aeroclub was outstanding. This is a worthwhile destination for aspiring cross country microlight pilots.
On the way back to Tyagarah we landed and stay for a couple of days at Manila (Lake Keepit), Barraba, Inverell, Tertenfield.
Duration: 25th May to 5th June 2009 Pilots: John McDermott, Richard Tabaka
The Cross Country Endorsement course recently run at Byron Bay Microlights was a great success with all six students passing their theory exam. Comprehensively prepared and run by CFI Peter Wilson, the course attracted pilots and students from HGFA, RAA and Gliding Association.
For details on any future X-Country Endorsement training courses refer to the training section on the web site.
